Our House Alcohol Prevention Initiative

Description: A Party Safe@Cal initiative, the fee will fund “Health Classes” for targeted high risk groups. The education and consultations will provide instruction to improve the wellbeing of all Cal partygoers and party-throwers.

Funding Amounts: 

  • Cost: $21,000
  • Duration of Funding: 1 year

No Limits: Health and Fitness Proposal from Recreational Sports 

Description: The Department of Recreational Sports (Rec Sports) has identified the need for increased fitness and wellness programming for students with disabilities. Funds are needed to launch the No Limits Health and Fitness Program.

The No Limits proposal seeks to begin addressing this issue by focusing four key areas of programming:

  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Psychological Disabilities
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Mobility Impairment

Funding Amounts 

  • Cost: $100,000 (with an additional one time cost of $60,000) 
  • Duration of Funding: 1 year

RSF Universal Changing and Showering Rooms Study  

Description: The Department of Recreational Sports (Rec Sports) has identified the need for universal changing and showering space to accommodate a wide variety of student populations. A study would need to be conducted In order to understand the plausibility of converting a portion of the RSF locker room into universal space.

Funding Amounts:

  • Cost: $100,000
  • Duration of Funding: 1 year 

RSF Colonade Expansion 

Description: The Department of Recreational Sports (Rec Sports) has identified the need for increased space for fitness and wellness activities—specifically strength training and cardiovascular training space for students within the Recreational Sports Facility.

Funding Amounts:

  • Cost: $100,000
  • Duration of Funding: 1 year

RSF Weight Room 

Description: The Department of Recreational Sports (Rec Sports) has identified the need for increased space for fitness and wellness activities—specifically strength training and cardiovascular training space for students. In order to expand the Weight Room Extension, funds are needed to relocate offices and remove the current structure.

  • Cost: $100,000
  • Duration of Funding: 1 year

Hiring Confidential Care Advocate

Description: Funds remaining portion of a third confidential advocate for the Path to CARE center. This will bring their total funding to $130,000.

REST Zone Proposal

Description: This proposal will provide ongoing funding to support the partnership with UHS to pay for one-time furnishings (such as massage chairs) and a related public information campaign for the REST Zone project.

Restorative Justice Center 

Description: The RJ Center seeks funding to support its programs for the 2015-16 academic year. Our research has demonstrated that student wellness can be deeply impacted by conflicts with peers, in living spaces and student organizations and with staff and faculty. Restorative Justice (RJ) and Restorative Practice (RP) offer strategies and tools for addressing conflicts and more serious harms on all levels, from the interpersonal to community-wide. The RJ Center's mission is to train students to become practitioners of RJ and RP so they can address their own conflicts in ways that emphasize repair, healing and positive transformation for all involved.

  • Cost: $60,000
  • Duration of funding: 1 year 

Emancipatory Sexual Education 

Description: Development of intersectional and inclusive sexual education curriculum, consent trainings, and publicity campaigns in order to create a healthier and safer sexual environment for all students regardless of identity.
