Currently, the Department of Recreational Sports has limited programming for students with disabilities. There is only one weekly class designed specifically for people with mobility impairment. In contrast, U.C. Berkeley has identified a diverse spectrum of disabilities on campus. However, there are limited health and wellness programming options available for students dealing with these disabilities. This is due, in large part, to a significant lack of suitable resources dedicated to the investigation, understanding, and creation of programming for this population.
The No Limits proposal seeks to begin addressing this issue by focusing four key areas of programming:
- Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Psychological Disabilities
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Mobility Impairment
