Cultivating Transfer Wellness 

The Cultivating Transfer Wellness is a multi-approach to physically and mentally support the diverse transfer student population on campus. This includes hosting monthly Wellness Events that discuss topics such as commuter stress, nutrition, managing academic pressures, and campus safety. Additionally, this project provides a complimentary Wellness Supply Station that offers themed supplies such as menstrual supplies, snacks, mini flashlights, battery chargers, hand sanitizers, disinfecting wipes and face masks.

Heads Up 

Heads Up is a helmet distribution project and social marketing campaign that seeks to encourage and normalize helmet wearing. 200 helmets will be purchased and distributed throughout campus in hopes of addressing increased bike and scooter use. The goal of this project is to reduce barriers to helmet wearing such as cost, accessibility and norms.

Student Rec Opportunity Fund 

 The Student Rec Opportunity Fund (SROF) increases equity and accessibility to recreational opportunities to low income undergraduate and graduate students. It eliminates financial barriers for students who want to participate in fee-based programs and activities but are unable to because of expenses by covering the cost of one rec program or activity each semester. These activities include, but are not limited to Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Cal Adventures, Aquatics, etc.

Undocumented Student Program: Undocu Wellness Project 

Undocu Wellness servs undocumented undergraduate and graduate students by providing monthly events that create spaces for students to heal mentally, spiritually and physically. Events are centered around holistic healing, wellness education and self-care practices. Three of these events will provide students with services like acupuncture, yoga sessions, education workshops and more each semester.

 Harm Reduction Expansion Program

This project expands harm reduction information and resources to address the risks of fentanyl contamination, which has been known to lead to overdoses. The Harm Reduction Expansion Program provides test strips, naloxone/narcan, harm reduction/recovery awareness education and training resources, and leadership to reduce the stigma of substance use on campus.

Land as Wellness 

Land as Wellness offers students the opportunity to practice farming as a form of therapy. Its goal is to improve distribution of food and herbal medicine on campus, continue the creation and expantion of the gardens at UC Berkeley and to create programs that generate ongoing revenue. This project serves BIPOC, low income students, differently abled students and marginalized students.

Mental Health Week  

The ASUC Mental Health Week event happens at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters during RRR week. It promotes different campus mental health related resources and provides students with complimentary food and self-care kits among other merchandise.

Our Monologues

This project increases awareness of gender based violence on campus through an annual performance that features real stories from Cal students who have experienced violence. Our Monologues creates a community of healing, liberation, resistance and education. It welcomes students of color, LGBTQIA students, veterans, student parents, international students, students with disabilities, and other student populations that face unique wellness challenges. Funding is used for the production of their play.

UC Berkeley Outsiders: Outdoor Exploration for Students of Color  

UC Berkeley Outsiders aims to eliminate physical and economical barriers preventing people of color from exploring the outdoors by hosting free events such as rock climbing, snow trips, kayacking trips, etc. Funding allows the program to waive member fees that are used to pay for trips.

Cultivating Respect, Empathy, and Advocacy to Empower Engineers

CREATE provides SVSH training and community building events for graduate engineering students, who are known to experience high rates of SVSH. Funding is used to expand a peer-to-peer SVHS training program called Respect is a Part of Research to the entire College of Engineering.

Student Parent Wellness Support Services  

This project provides accessible and feasible wellness services for student parents by including their children in the programming. The program holds student-led, bi-weekly support circles that target the needs of student parents and children. The funds received from the wellness fund are also used to provide wellness scholarships for students and their families.

Adaptive Recreation Inclusive Sports Clinic 

The Adaptive Recreation Inclusive Sports Clinic provides students with the opportunity to engage in introductory adaptive sports sessions. With clinics occuring 1-2 times per month, each student receives five 2-hour sessions where they can learn more about adaptive sports, are provided with a safe and inclusive space to participate and where individuals can connect with one another. Sports include, but are not limited to, sit volleyball and wheelchair basketball. Funds from the wellness fee are used to execute these activities as well as pursuing a partnership with Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program.

Queer Cal Pals 

This project strengthens a mentorship program for incoming first year and transfer LGBTQ+ students that connects them to the queer community on campus. It pairs new students with current students. Members of this group learn about LGBTQ+ on campus resources and participate in community building by attending Oakland Pride, touring the Castro District, etc. easing the transition to Cal for LGBTQ+ students.

Transgender Student Wellness Initiative (TSWI)

TSWI works to better the physical and mental wellness of transgender and nonbinary students on campus in close collaboration with the Multicultural Community Center and Gender Equity Resource Center. Funding from the Wellness Fee is used to support continued weekly events, access to professional and academic support and material resources such as food for transgender students.

Non-Clinical Case Management Specializing in Bias Incident Response  

Funding supports a full time, non-clinical case management position to bolster support for students in crisis and improve the campus's care for students impacted by bias incidents. This approach provides affirming support, care, resource referral and administrative coordination. This position is housed under the Center for Support and Intervention.

Muslim Mental Health Initiative (MMHI)

MMHI focuses on providing free mental health resources to Muslim students at Cal. This includes free counseling sessions from Muslim therapists, social events and workshops that promote wellness, and support groups.

MSA Community Wellness Initiative

Berkeley Muslim Student Association focuses on meeting the needs of Muslim students on campus. This project increases access to basic needs for their members as well as delivering Ramadan initiatives.

Punjabi Art Collective Exhibition 

The Punjabi Art Collective Exhibition provides a platform for Pujabi artists to engage in community and the arts in a meaningful and healing way. Funding is used to expand the art exhibition that includes, but is not limited to, paintings, photography, poetry, performances and guest speakers.

CASE Queer Alliance 

This project provides increased support for queer and trans (QT) wellness on campus. This includes funding for STD prevention, transition affirmation, contraceptives as well as wellness workshops, restorative justice facilitators and nutritious groceries for the QR community. This project will also fund stipends for QT wellness leaders on campus to ensure faithful execution of projects.

Hope on the Go: Mobile Acupuncture Clinics 

Description: Hope on the Go provides both undergraduate and graduate students with free drop-in services of ear acupuncture. The services provided are known to reduce depression, anxiety, pain, trauma and addiction. This service is available to students for 3 weeks during Fall 2023 and Spring 2024.
